Race Wars 2013

I want to start this by saying my heart goes out to the family and loved ones of Trayvon Martin. The loss of any life is tragic whether it be black, white, or anything in between. It is especially sad that this life was so young.

This case has caught SO much attention but to me the attention is probably for all the wrong reasons. It seems to me that so many people are more concerned about the race of the victim than the actual tragedy and crime behind it. The social media post and comments along my timeline are all focused on 'justice for the black child shot in cold blood'. Even one post mentioned what if it were the other way around. Honesty, I don't care what race Trayvon Martin is. I don't care what race George Zimmerman is. Truthfully, both are minorities and therefore are mute points to me. For me, I want justice for any victim regardless...whether it is Trayvon Martin or Nicole Brown-Simpson.

For me, the only thing that is important about this class is a young person lost his life...seemingly unnecessarily. All that matters to me is that I'm being told a teenage boy weighing 150-160lbs overpowered a man almost 190lbs. All that I can think about is that in no scenario I heard proves that firing on the young man was necessary.

I guess my point is let's disregard this 'racially motivated' stance. Let's not to make this a reason to riot and loot OUR OWN neighborhoods. Let's not purposely wedge an even bigger divide between races with further violence...causing even more of a justification for profiling. Instead, let's truly fight for what is important...JUSTICE FOR ALL.

Just my thoughts...

RIP Trayvon Martin
